Free Medical Clinic Impacts Community
City on a Hill Church hosted a Free Medical Clinic and Food Give Away on Saturday, August 2, 2014. “It was an amazing day!” said Peggy Nunley, volunteer coordinator for the free medical clinics. Over 330 people from all over Scott County came and received a free hot meal and a grocery food voucher valued at $20.00. Around 150 people received free medical care that included school sport physicals, colds, flu and other non-urgent needs. We appreciate Joel Nunley, M.D. who is also the pastor of City on a Hill Church and numerous other Doctors, who provided free medical care services to so many families who just can’t afford the added medical expense.
To host an outreach like this takes more than what one church can provide. City on a Hill Church rallies over 100+ volunteers from around 30-40 different churches. Every volunteer is greatly appreciated! City on a Hill Church believes the clinic is just one way they can serve the physical needs in the local community. However, this is not the primary reason they facilitate free medical clinics. “God cares about the physical, but even more importantly; it opens a door for us to care for the spiritual needs of so many “, shared Peggy Nunley.
Pastor Joel continues, “Jesus loves to use His church to care for the hurting, love on the broken, and share boldly of His love and purpose to the forgotten. Jesus loves our community more than we could ever imagine! The clinic is just one way we get to go public with the great love of Jesus Christ that each of us have experienced ourselves.”
City on a Hill Church plans to host a two summer Free Medical Clinics June 13, 2015 at City on a Hill Church & July 25th, 2015 at Austin Little League Park. If you would like to more information please email Peggy at firstname.lastname@example.org
